School Improvement/Professional Development

We Are Here to Provide Assistance As Needed.

classroom

The department of School Improvement provides programs and integrated strategies that focus on effective teaching, learning, and integration of innovations. On-site assistance coaching as well as workshops at The Service Center are provided to teachers and administrators.

The Service Center at ClearWater's School Improvement Team continues to provide research based programs to meet the educational and support needs of school districts. The team assist local districts and buildings in the School Improvement/Staff Development process through direct on site coaching and assistance as well as through the provision of the Onward to Excellence School Improvement/Staff Development model and the North Central Accreditation model.

The Service Center at ClearWater's School Improvement Team stands ready to assist districts in areas of NCLB, QPA or NCA activities, including data collection, goal setting, prescription writing, site council training, team/collaboration skills, implementation of prescriptions, and even mock accreditation visits.  The Service Center also offers a monthly QPA/School Improvement Support Group.

Differentiated Instruction
As teachers begin to address individual students' needs in classrooms, differentiated instruction offers teachers a full toolbox of strategies and ideas to better meet the needs of students without creating three or more complete sets of lesson plans. See what the research says about teaching to all students.

School Improvement Plans
The School Improvement Plan is the foundation for the school improvement process. If your staff can agree on research-based strategies to meet the needs of the students, then the basis exists for true consensus and team building. This will lead to comprehensive and meaningful school improvement.

Workshops On-Site
If you are frustrated with the cost of professional development, the one-shot effect of sending teachers to other sites for training, and the lack of communication once those teachers return to their classrooms, then let us comes to you with our workshops and faculty discussions. We offer customized professional development at your site, for your entire faculty rather than one or two teachers, and we can work the sessions around your schedule and your needs. Call us with your ideas and we will work out the best scenario for you.

PDC Training
Each district’s Professional Development Council must, by state mandate, receive annual training to be sure that the regulations are understood and followed in their plan’s implementation. The Service Center at ClearWater provides this training in three formats: an all-day workshop for those new to the PDC process, an after-school IDL for those who need just a refresher or with questions to ask, and an onsite version where attendance at a PDC meeting in your district provides answers to your specific district’s questions.

Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math
The Service Center at ClearWater consultants are knowledgeable about the research and mandates concerning the teaching and assessing of each of the four core content areas. To best meet the needs of schools and districts as they work to improve their core content offerings, we can provide guidance with state standards, curriculum alignment, and development of school improvement plans.

School Improvement Team
The School Improvement Team now consists of five consultants to meet the educational and support needs of schools.

DeAnne Heersche serves as an education generalist, with a focus on school improvement and language arts.

Lori Jensen is also an education generalist, with a focus on SPED, differentiated instruction, and curriculum.
